The beginning of the new term is here! that means it is time to study again. It is common to make mistakes that prevent us from achieving our objectives but here you will find simple tips to avoid them and improve your academic performance.
Lack of planning
One of the biggest problems is not having a plan. Students tend to improvise their study sessions, leading to a feeling of burden, anxiety, and stress. Remember that if you don’t know where to start you will lose valuable time.
Tip:
You can organize your study time by deciding on the topics according to their difficulty and prioritizing those that you need to reinforce. In addition, you can use different tools like agendas, journals or even your phone.
Not taking breaks
Lack of break can affect our ability to concentrate and lead to a feeling of exhaustion. I know this is a very common practice (I used to do it) but in fact, this can be counterproductive to our wellness.
Tip:
Use techniques such as Pomodoro, which consists of being focused for 25 minutes and resting 5. Use this time to take a little walk, drink your favorite drink, or eat a snack.
An environment full of distractions
Our space can have a huge impact on our ability to focus and learn. If your study space is full of distractions, it will be hard to stay focused on your task.
Tip:
If you consider that your actual space is not helping you, try to change your environment, you can go to the library located at downtown or even to the one we have in the College.
If you want to be successful in your studies, try to avoid these mistakes. With effort and dedication, you can achieve your academic goals!
I hope every student has a great term!
