However, one experience that you shouldn’t overlook is taking time to volunteer. What exactly is volunteering and why should you consider getting involved during your time at Assiniboine College?

What is Volunteering?

Volunteering is when an individual offers their time and skills to help others without expecting any compensation in return. Volunteering can take place in many different forms such as volunteering with a local charity to participating in community events. In the end, volunteering is about making a positive impact for those in your community while also having the ability to personally grow and make connections.

Why is Volunteering Important?

Volunteering is often the center of making different community events and activities possible. Many events/activities require people to put their time in to make them happen, because without the manpower… they wouldn’t be able to do it. Volunteering can also help address social issues, support organization and help build a stronger sense of belonging. In a diverse country like Canada, volunteering also helps bring people from different backgrounds together and supports inclusivity.
