Project Red 2023

Tuesday, December 19, 2023

This year, the ACCSA saw an overwhelming number of hamper applicants in comparison to last year, many of which needed to be waitlisted. To put this into perspective, the need for assistance this year was four times greater than last year. In the first four days of our Project Red campaign, we received almost 100 hamper applicants, compared to last year when we received 33, which shows how much support was needed for ACC students.

With the generous assistance of donors, we have raised $10,629 in donations to provide holiday hampers to students and their families. This means we were able to support not only the accepted hamper applicants, but also those students who had to be waitlisted due to the volume of requests for financial assistance.

This campaign wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of the Assiniboine Community College Foundation and Assiniboine Community College staff members who raised awareness of this initiative and helped bring our holiday campaign to fruition.

Out of those donors who contributed to Project Red, 49 donations were made by internal ACC staff, 3 donations by external individuals, 5 donations by external individuals that are alumni of the College, as well as 3 businesses that provided generous donations, in addition to Student VIP, who donated $2000 towards the cause.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Dock for collaborating on the campaign, as well as President & CEO of Assiniboine Community College, Mark Frison, for assisting the ACC Students’ Association with the promotion of Project Red, and of course, all the donors who made this possible.

The efforts provided by everyone involved with Project Red will help Assiniboine students have one less worry this year, which is the best holiday gift of all.

Sincerely,

Jonn Olson
