SUMMARY:Door Open - Brandon Heritage Event
DESCRIPTION:Doors Open is a free three day event that will occur July 15-17. The City of Brandon is proud to announce this is the 20th edition of Doors Open. There is various guided walking tours and property tours the 16th and 17th and two specialty events. One of which will occur on the Friday and is a guided bus tour in conjunction with Brandon in Bloom. This event is the only aspect that is not free\, tickets can be purchased at https://mycommunity.brandon.ca/Program/GetProgramDetails?courseId=c04da5c4-7dbe-411a-81b4-f7cf4650fd18&semesterId=6d5b99ab-c4b0-4c2d-880d-1ab51b8d5c3a. \nThe Saturday Specialty event is at the Riverbank Discovery Centre and looks at natural history of the area and Indigenous history. There will be a Opening Ceremony\, guided walking tour\, documentary screening and free bannock will be offered. There will also be a Raffle with prizes from local business! During the 16th and 17th from 1-5 there will also be property tours at heritage locations\, one of which is ACC’s very own MICA building. There is a total of 13 locations participating and three walking tours and one facility tour. \nBrandon University is having a tour of their Observatory Saturday only. The walking tours are both Saturday and Sunday there is “The Brandon Mental Health Centre” tour at 1pm with a former BMHC employee at ACC’s north campus\, and a downtown walking tour starting at 1pm looking at “the Other Side of History”. Lastly\, there is a “Nature Walk” tour at the Assiniboine Food Forest at 3pm.  Additional aspects include live music at some locations\, a scavenger hunt and a Storytime at the downtown library the 14th. Doors Open aims to showcase the history and heritage of Brandon while being fun for everyone!
